Research

The program area within CCGEx can be described as, gas exchange, i.e. the technology to manage flow of gas, into and out of the cylinder. In this respect, valves, turbocharger, intercooler and EGR cooler are key sub components.

All fluid phenomena on the gas side are characterized by strong pulsations. CCGEx focus is to deal with these pulsations of pressure, temperature, density, chemistry and flow velocity and thus be able to bring technology forward. Both calculations and measurements with a high time resolution are thus necessary to understand the phenomena. The starting point is the conditions typical of real engines. The phenomena can then be refined at the basic fluid attempts to get a solid foundation for understanding the processes of the engine, which is always the ultimate goal. Acoustic phenomena are an important part of the pulsating phenomena and will be part of what is studied.
